Angelique van den Hogen (1965) is an artist from Volendam, specialized in Abstract Modern Art. The paintings of Angelique are known for their dynamism, in which fresh and surprising colors sometimes dizzle and tempt to intensely and curiously look further.Angelique started around the age of 30 (?) With watercolors and in her early period mainly focused on portraying children , relatives and later also in assignment. In these portraits she always knows how to impress the character of the person portrayed by that one look in the eyes, that characteristic feature of the mouth.
Through the years, Angelique has started to experiment more and more with different techniques and styles. She continues to search for something exciting, for new starting points and challenges. Angelique has always painted in a loose style, so her work seems very quickly painted. With her paintings she wants to bring something to the public: emotion, wonder, joy or recognition. Her palette has many colors and emotions. In abstract art she has now found the way to represent her own emotions, her own life lessons on the canvas. With this style she can really lose her egg and she dares to 'open and expose': 'This is what I want, what I fear, what makes me happy and what I can do, this is who I am!'
In November 2015 Angelique resigned from her employer Justice in Amsterdam and followed her heart and ambition. In addition to giving painting and drawing lessons and workshops to children and adults, she has since worked as an independent artist. Her paintings have been sold to private individuals, offices, restaurants, public spaces in Amsterdam, such as the Hogeschool van Amsterdam. They also have works from abroad, in Normandy at the foundation of the Patton Foundation and in the Marcke, Italy.
